Gull Cottage is a rare opportunity to experience Peaks Island as it once was. This 1911 fishing lodge has been lovingly updated while preserving elements of its original charm. 

 

Quietly situated on a sandy cul-de-sac that leads to wildlife trails, Gull Cottage offers myriad options to explore the island. Just a short walk to shops and shore, hike along the nature preserve trails, or head out for an evening of entertainment. 

 

If you’d like to stay closer to home Gull Cottage offers numerous indoor and outdoor dining and lounging options. Two open decks, great green space, and wooded paths that invite sun and shade activities -- all on-site. From having a quiet cup of coffee at the kitchen table, or on the main bedroom love seat, maybe the E deck seated at the outdoor patio table. Perhaps even on the double Adirondak chair under the grape arbor, or at the outdoor seating area by the rhododendron beside Li’l Gull. For more than one or two there is the expandable dining room table which can accommodate 6, the octagonal pic-nic table in the back yard which can seat 8. For gathering around the TV there is the full futon and a couple of rockers in the living room. Of course the triple lot allows for plenty of outdoor activities. There is the back yard, the fenced front yard, the E & S decks, the N and S paths that loop around Li’l Gull or through the wooded lot, a large open mowed middle lot for group games/activities.

 

Many appreciate the well-equipped kitchen with both Keurig and conventional coffee makers, a wide variety of cooking/baking ware, microwave, toaster oven, a crock pot, blender, full range, a full 60-piece Fiesta ware dish set, as well as tumblers, glasses, and flatware. For the outdoor chef there is a 5 burner grill (including a side burner and upper warmer tray as well as some grilling cookware & utensils).

 

A favorite amenity on the grounds of Gull Cottage is “Li’l Gull” cabin which may serve as a writer’s retreat, day fort, or camping-out experience (w/ two fold-down bunks.)  Both Gull Cottage and “Li’l Gull” are equipped with WiFi, TV, DVD, power, and USB ports. In the main Cottage there is also cable TV.

 

In addition guests will find an eclectic library of books, music, movies, puzzles, and games. The wood stove has been replaced and upgraded to an entertainment area which houses a built-in electric fireplace. The center now consolidates the games and many of the books in the living room all while creating more space.

 

For those who need to be able to work while on-island, aside from the wi-fi, there is a printer and several options of where to set up a work space.

 

When ready to retire for the evening there are many options as well. Two bedrooms each have full beds, a third bedroom is set up with two twin beds. There is also a full futon in the living room and of course the two fold-down bunks in Li’l Gull.
